Rochester to Santa Claus Road Trip: Epic Indiana Journey Guide

This route follows the historic stagecoach path from Rochester, NY to Santa Claus, IN. The Erie Canal transformed Rochester into the country's first boomtown in the 1820s, and today you can still trace the canal's path along the New York State Thruway (I-90).

From Rochester, you'll traverse the rolling hills of western New York, cross the Great Lakes region into Ohio's farmlands, and finally enter the wooded knobs of southern Indiana. The drive spans approximately 640 miles and takes roughly 11 hours without stops.
