Ocean City MD to Lewes DE Road Trip Guide

This route crosses the mouth of Delaware Bay via the Indian River Inlet Bridge, a 350-foot span built in 2012 that replaced an older bascule bridge. Driving time without stops is roughly 45–50 minutes along 35 miles of US-9 and DE-1.

The route begins on MD-90 west from Ocean City, then merges onto US-9 north. Near the Delaware border, US-9 becomes DE-1, a divided highway with moderate traffic, especially in summer. Toll: None, but parking at stops may cost $5–10.
