The drive from Nanning, Guangxi's subtropical capital, to Danzhou on Hainan's northwest coast crosses the Qiongzhou Strait via the Guangdong–Hainan ferry. This route offers a unique blend of karst landscapes, rubber plantations, and tropical coastline. The total road distance is approximately 560 kilometers (350 miles), with ferry crossing time adding about 2 hours.
