McCall to Moscow Road Trip Guide: Idaho Scenic Drive

The drive from McCall to Moscow along US-95 and ID-55 traces part of the historic Nez Perce Trail, a route used for centuries by indigenous peoples and later by gold rush prospectors. This 190-mile journey climbs over the Payette River valley, through the Bitterroot Mountain foothills, and across the Camas Prairie before descending into the Palouse region.

The 4-mile stretch along the Little Salmon River from Riggins to White Bird offers canyon walls of volcanic basalt, remnants of the Columbia River flood basalts.
