Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site
Across the Pedernales River from the LBJ Ranch, this state park displays presidential memorabilia and runs the Sauer-Beckmann Farmstead, where rangers in period clothing work a World War I-era farm near grazing bison and longhorns.
Fort Martin Scott
On Fredericksburg's east side, this frontier Army post mixes replica structures with original buildings, including the guardhouse. A walking trail passes the officers' quarters ruins, and guided tours and programs are offered.
Fredericksburg Historic District

Designed by El Paso architect Henry C. Trost and opened in 1930, this Marfa hotel hosted Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean during the 1955 filming of Giant, and it still displays memorabilia from the movie.

Ojinaga sits across the Rio Grande from Presidio, Texas, at La Junta, the place where the Río Conchos flows into the Rio Grande. The town has a place in Mexican Revolution history: in January 1914 Pancho Villa's forces defeated the federal army here, and the retreating troops crossed into Presidio.
