Starting in Dalanzadgad, the gate to the Gobi Gurvansaikhan National Park, and ending in Yinchuan, capital of Ningxia, this route crosses one of Asia's most dramatic ecological transitions. The A169 highway (Mongolia) connects to China's G2012, passing through border posts at Shivee Khuren and Ceke. The total driving distance is roughly 1,100 km, and most drivers take 14–16 hours of pure driving, typically spread over two days.
