This 60-kilometer drive from Bellinzona, the capital of Swiss castles, to Varenna, a charming fishing village on Lake Como, is a journey across an international border and through shifting landscapes. The route follows the A2 motorway south to Lugano, then winds along the western shore of Lake Como via the SS340 highway. Driving time is roughly 1 hour and 20 minutes without stops, but plan for at least 3–4 hours to enjoy the sights.
