Aranyaprathet to Sa Kaeo: A Practical Road Trip Guide

Route 33 (Asian Highway 19) runs 55 km northwest from Aranyaprathet (13.693°N, 102.508°E) to Sa Kaeo town (13.814°N, 102.072°E). A fact that surprises many: the road crosses a historic railway line near Ban Khao Luk Chang, a remnant of the Thai-Cambodian border rail link built in the 1940s.

The drive typically takes 50–60 minutes in light traffic. Budget at least 2–3 hours if you plan to explore stops along the way.

Route 33 is a two-lane highway with some four-lane sections near Sa Kaeo. It's well-paved and maintained year-round, though potholes can appear after heavy rains.

Fuel stations cluster at Aranyaprathet, Ban Khao Luk Chang, and Sa Kaeo town. Expect diesel around 30 THB/liter (2024). A round trip from Aranyaprathet to Sa Kaeo covers about 110 km.
